And when it comes to people, I am yet to see a better and more holistic science than leadership. In this expedition, learn how leadership can help you bring together a diversity of individuals and how to align such individuals behind one ideal: your start up

This second expedition will help you understand what leadership is all about and how to galvanize the different strengths of the people around you to help your start up launch and expand beyond the capacity of one individual.

The students in this expedition will learn that people are at the centre of any start-up. They will equally learn that it is quasi impossible to succeed without a team of misfit of some sort. Why is leadership is important? How to get people behind my big and insane idea? How to get people to follow me when I can’t afford their skills? These are questions every startupper will find themselves dealing with and as a result will find answers within this expedition.

General definition:

Leadership can be defined as the process of motivating a group to achieve a common goal. Leadership also entails breaking boundaries and taking risks to convert a vision into a reality.

Within a business environment, this means motivating employees to meet the company goals. Exceptional leaders need to be inspiring, good at communicating, honest with their subordinates, and should also have the ability to think outside the box.

Leadership moves the world. That’s why it’s important, why we study it, and why we strive to do it well. Are you ready for this?

1. Apply leadership theory and practice to decision-making and actions as a manager
2. Recognize the implications of leadership style and its impact on team and organization performance
3. Identify and critically assess assumptions that influence decisions and actions on management, leadership, teamwork and relationship building
4. Receive and integrate feedback on decision-making practices, conflict resolution skills, and teamwork behaviours with the support of a team-based buddy pair
